Darren T. Kimura founded Energy Laboratories in 2000 to expand and diversify his successful company Energy Industries. Energy Industries is a global developer of energy projects working on demand and supply side solutions.

Mission: Energy Laboratories serves as a place for energy ideas to incubate and develop.

Core Value: We look for near term disruptive technologies that help our users and the environment solve energy problems.

What we do: We seed very early ideas as they become businesses. We provide research, engineering and entrepreneural development.

• Only 1 out of 20 ideas developed in the labs graduate.
• All of the graduates from the labs:
• Surpassed $2 million in revenues in 3 years, most achieve this mark in 2 years.
• Are in operation today.
• The top producing graduate achieves $50 million in annual revenues.
• Most of the graduates are organically grown companies.
• All of the graduates started in Hawaii creating jobs, exporting services, bringing Hawaii talent back.
• Most of the companies have grown nationally or internationally but still retain a Hawaii presence.
